Frozen foods often preserve more nutrients than fresh—smart, convenient choices for year-round health and flavor.
James Kowalski
James Kowalski did not arrive at food journalism through the expected route. He spent nearly a decade in consumer research, studying how American households actually shop, budget, and make decisions in the grocery aisle. Not the idealized version. The real, imperfect, Tuesday-evening version. What the data kept showing him was that the gap between what people needed to know and what food media was telling them was wider than anyone seemed to notice or care about.
He founded DailyRetale in 2024 to do something about that.
As Editor-in-Chief, James sets the editorial direction of the publication, reviews every major story before it goes live, and holds the team to one standard: is this actually useful to the person reading it? He is particularly focused on keeping DailyRetale grounded and free of the filler that has come to define a lot of food and grocery coverage online.
Under his leadership, DailyRetale covers four areas that together tell the full story of how Americans interact with food. What is happening in the industry. What is worth buying. What nutrition science actually says. And what small habits make everyday life in the kitchen a little more manageable.
James is based in the United States. He reads ingredient labels the way other people read the news, and he considers that a completely reasonable way to spend a Saturday morning.
